Within my response to Schoenlank's novel I aim to reveal the hidden meaning of the story- the conflict between socialist and capitalist during the Inter-War period.
Derived of the clear hierarchy collage represents political mess and the lack of leadership in the 1920's German Government.
The novel describes the working class' agony, as eventually, their representatives formed an alliance with hostile capitalists. By overlying the type in a partly illegible way I aim to reflect how citizens could not see the real intentions of politicians. The plot of the novel is also reflected through drawings and newspaper articles on the background. By comparing the post World War I unrest to the current political situation I aim to suggest, that despite a hundred years, politics is still a mess, the power is in hands of greedy people and the class segregation is maintained.
The publication is inspired by dada- the movement in favour of the working class conteporary to Schoenlank. The original book and project's process book are available.
